Agenda: Assessing the situation in Georgia

 

The date is the 10th of August 2008. After two emergency meetings and little achieved, the United Nations Security Council convenes again for a third time in as many days, this time with the determination of securing some kind of peace in Georgia. In the meanwhile, hundreds of lives hang in the balance as Russian and Georgian forces do battle, rendering the UNMOIG helpless.Will the Council be third time lucky and uphold its goals of peace laid down in the Charter, or will chaos and tyranny continue in Georgia?
